On the Couch with Geraldine Turner

Geraldine-Turner-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Geraldine Turner?
I am a flawed human being, always honest, forthright, often scared, but fiercely loyal and generous.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I had the opportunity, I would write more and direct more. I don’t feel the urgent need I used to feel about performing. However, creating art can take a number of forms. I can’t see myself stopping creativity ever.

Who inspires you and why?
Gee, a number of people. Apart from a few idols like Judy Garland, anyone who overcomes difficulties in life and never gives up. I find such people inspiring.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would like to think, in my small way, I am making a difference in people’s lives. I have had many touching messages from all sorts of people about my recent memoir, Turner’s Turn. That is humbling.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I love all things Italy. I have driven through the country and visited many wonderful places. I love Italian food and I love Italians and how they embrace life to the fullest. I never tire of Rome.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
A walk in the Botanical Gardens is always a must. I am a gardener at heart and relish showing people plants and discussing gardens.

What are you currently reading?
Shy … the Mary Rodgers biography.

What are you currently listening to?
Music is work to me. As I am not preparing anything at the moment, I prefer to watch inane television for relaxation.

Happiness is?
The love of a dog.

What does the future hold for you?
More surprises, I hope and more work as I love to work on projects. It really is a question of always making a contribution and continuing to learn, oh, and having younger friends amongst your friends list to keep your mind expanding as you age.
