On the Couch with Georgie Parker

Georgie-Parker-AAR-ON-the-CouchWho is Georgie Parker?
Georgie Parker is lucky enough to be able to call herself an actor. I’m also a mother, a daughter, a wife and a friend.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I’m actually very happy with my life. I’m feeling very fortunate. And I don’t think I would do anything differently. The only thing I would do differently is try to see more friends, and the people that I love in my life. Strive for more balanced between work and life.

Who inspires you and why?
I get inspired by all sorts of people, not just people in my profession. I get inspired by anyone who tries to make a difference.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I think that’s a huge question. I just try to do my bit. I think if we all individually do the things that make life better, take care of our life, our waste, look after the climate as much as we can, look after each other as much as we can than individually we can make a collective difference.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere where there’s water and a bit of heat.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I take them out to dinner. I want to spend time with them.

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading is a play by David Williamson called Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica, we are learning it and in the process of rehearsing it to go into production.

What are you currently listening to?
I am currently listening to all sorts of music. I’ve got a great playlist. I’ve got Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers. All sorts. It depends on my mood – I’ve also got a lot of classical and some world music. Whatever the mood is, I’ve got a playlist for it.

Happiness is?
Friends, family, love, food, spending your time well.

What does the future hold for you?
Spending time with family and friends, and performing the play Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica at the Ensemble Theatre – come and see it!

Georgie reprises her role as Monica in David Williamson’s updated social comedy, Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica – currently playing at the Ensemble Theatre until 29 April 2023. For more information, visit: www.ensemble.com.au for details.
