On the Couch with George Banders

George Banders Arts Review On the CouchWho is George Banders?
Actor. Writer. Director. “Basically just a chilled out entertainer”

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Probably be a professional magician or a detective. Or a strange combination of the two; pick a card? Oh sorry go directly to jail…

Who inspires you and why?
I really love the poetry of Anis Mojgani. Beautiful human being.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Make all high school students spend a couple of months in different countries and cultures.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I love spending time in Tasmania. It’s such a beautiful part of the country. Like a little hidden secret that not many people have discovered. The food, the art, the shopping and the amazing walks.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I like to find great new cafes and restaurants tucked away, and a trip through the MCA in Sydney is always worth it.

What are you currently reading?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar – it blows me away how much that little guy can put away.

What are you currently listening to?
A podcast called The Bugle, basically just all the genius that is John Oliver.

Happiness is?
Walking out of a theatre being moved to tears and trying to figure out all the ways you can work with that director.

What does the future hold for you?
A hoverboard, a sports almanac and some crazy run-ins with a guy called Biff… Can’t wait.

George is appearing in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at Theatre Works: 27 August – 10 September 2016. For more information, visit: www.theatreworks.org.au for details.
