On the Couch with Elizabeth Blackmore

Elizabeth Blackmore AAR On the CouchWho is Elizabeth Blackmore?
I am an actor who is currently in Sydney to play Marion Crawford in Melanie Tait’s new play The Queen’s Nanny at Ensemble Theatre.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Worry less. Eat more cake.

Who inspires you and why?
My kid. The bravery of a 3-year-old to tackle first time experiences full throttle, with their whole heart, is humbling.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Learn more. Listen harder. You’re voice doesn’t always need to be heard.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I love to go back and see my family in Perth. Why? The Indian Ocean. There are no better beaches in the world. And where else can you get a scalding hot Long Black as big as your head?

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Carriageworks Markets in Everleigh. Get yourself a morning bun and a coffee and have a stroll.

What are you currently reading?
Roxane Gay – Ayiti | Anna McGahan – Immaculate | Marion Crawford – The Little Princesses (I genuinely did read this, but I also love Brownie Points).

What are you currently listening to?
Angie McMahon, Middle Kids and a whole lot of the theme songs from Bat Wheels and Bluey.

Happiness is?
“…only real when shared” – Lazy days with my kid and husband and with my beautiful community of friends.

What does the future hold for you?
If you find out, let me know. At present I’m very happy to be playing Marion in our beautiful play alongside the incredibly talented Matthew Backer and Emma Palmer. My kid has never been more excited than to see mum with two Playschool STARS. Heaven.
