Who is Damon Baudin?
Human. Actor. Bad surfer. Better painter. Slow learner. Sometimes writer. Often in crisis.
What would you do differently to what you do now?
Lawyer? Historian? Soldier? Spy? Detective? Fireman? Jedi?!
Who inspires you and why?
Ants, beavers, bees – all creatures with crystal clear purpose. Enviable, and very inspiring. I also love watching friends do what they love; whether that’s sport, music or some form of live performance. And I’m deeply moved watching athletes, performers, or anyone in the arena giving it their all. Risking failure but allowing the conditions for the magic to happen. That’s the goal, baby.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Start with my own backyard – metaphorically – or literally? Plant more trees, heal the planet.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
My parent’s house on the south coast of NSW. Good for surfing, swimming, and a detox from city life.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’d take them to grab some Vietnamese, then a fancy cocktail at a jazz bar in the city. Their shout of course, I’m probably broke.
What are you currently reading?
Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, Antony Sher’s Year of the Fat King, and Alan Rickman’s diary Madly, Deeply. I love an actor autobiography.
What are you currently listening to?
Currently some Lo-Fi Lord of the Rings study playlist while I type this out. Otherwise, some Loyle Carner or Dominic Fike. My Spotify keeps recommending a playlist called Divorced Aussie Dad Tunes?
Happiness is?
Good food. Hot showers. Head scratches. Sunny weekend mornings. Long walks. A dog running full pelt on a beach.
What does the future hold for you?
Family, friends. Good intentions. More travel. And a stack of unused Audible credits.
