On the Couch with Christina Falsone

Christina Falsone AAR On the CouchWho is Christina Falsone?
Professional actor, business owner, triathlete; mother to two kids, one enormous dog and four chooks.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I’m lucky enough to have reached a point where I’m very happy with the choices I’ve made and where they’ve taken me, but in an alternate universe I’m earning a living doing something with my hands, like furniture restoration, textile art or surgery.

Who inspires you and why?
The women in my triathlon club, FIT – in their 20s to their 70s, they are setting and smashing personal goals, winning medals. It’s not just that they encourage and inspire me to train harder and go further – they are also phenomenal humans who provide great company and stellar life advice.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Whatever I can to keep pushing for a more gender-equal, safe and kind world for my kids (and all kids) to grow up in. I’d also make live theatre and live music accessible to all and protect public broadcasting and local news.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
So many – The Aeolian Islands in Sicily, Chicago, Rome, Paris, Fiji, Tokyo – all places where I have been a bit more than just a tourist.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I’d take them cycling up the hill at the Arboretum early in the morning when the hot air balloons were flying – once they got their breath back, the view over Canberra would knock it right out of them again.

What are you currently reading?
Youth fiction to my kids at bedtime.

What are you currently listening to?
I’m basically just listening to Fugazi’s Red Medicine on repeat at the moment – the hard edges, the sense of injustice and rage feels right as I prepare for my role as Solange in The Maids.

Happiness is?
The sound of the chooks greeting me in the morning and roasting marshmallows with my family round the fire pit.

What does the future hold for you?
Some more plays, some more races and as much quality time with my loved ones as I can get.

Christina plays Solange in Jean Genet’s The Maids at The Street Theatre, Canberra, from 24 May – 8 June 2025. For more information, visit: www.thestreet.org.au for details.
