On the Couch with Christian Charisiou

I am an actor, singer, and voice over artist who dreams big, works hard, and loves good food.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Good question! I would sweat the little things less. When you apply that, the world is a lot brighter.

Who inspires you and why?
Personally, my parents. Their love, generosity, strength, and hard work over the years have always motivated me. On a professional level, Andrew Garfield and Bryan Cranston are the types of careers I really strive for.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
That’s a big one. Eliminate the need for plastics and fossil fuels would be at the top of my list.

Favorite holiday destination and why?
My favourite holiday destination is Croatia. I spent some time on a boat going around and exploring the islands. The water is like stained glass and the food is simple and tasty. Bliss.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
No matter where I am, I take friends to restaurants and bars. I think the best way to experience a new place is to enjoy food, drink and the people.

What are you currently reading?
Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. Love me some fantasy.

What are you currently listening to?
The Wedding Singer. We’ve just started rehearsals in Sydney!

Happiness is?
Fried potato chips.

What does the future hold for you?
I have just started rehearsals for the national tour of The Wedding Singer, which is opening in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth next year. Then, since I have my US Visa, I’ll be heading there for a while.

Christian stars as Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer which plays Sydney’s State Theatre from 5 January, before heading to the State Theatre – Arts Centre Melbourne from 27 January, and His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth from 24 February 2022.
