Who is Chris Asimos?
Chris Asimos, I’d like to consider myself an all-round entertainer. Although my singing isn’t quite up to scratch so probably not a triple threat. I am a fitness and adventure enthusiast. Passions are finding hidden gems to explore, trek, kayak, cycle and photograph both locally and abroad. I love being a tourist in my own city and experiencing/seeing/tasting new each day.
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I don’t think I could do anything besides pursue a career in the performing arts, I’ve attempted to change pathways a few times but keep going back.
If I could magically finish four years of study in something else and jump into another career it would be Archaeology. I love history and travel; it would be a dream to join a dig in the Mediterranean or Middle East and unearth something from the many Ancient Civilizations that stood before.
Who inspires you and why?
Growing up I was inspired by Al Pacino. I admire his journey and love watching his work.
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
There are so many issues that need addressing in the world. I like to do whatever I can so people can live in peace and harmony and do my part to help the environment and ensure the future generations have a great world to live in.
I work casually as a facilitator for a program called Beacon, which teaches young Australians job readiness skills ensuring everyone has the same opportunities moving forward. I really enjoy my work for this program and find it rewarding-I’d love to do more of this.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Greece! I could spend a lifetime going back and only scratch the surface. It’s my heritage, I love the people, history, hikes and of course… the food!
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
When friends come to South Australia, I like to take them kayaking at the dolphin sanctuary or hike at Morialta /Belair.
What are you currently reading?
Circe by Madeline Miller.
What are you currently listening to?
Epic: The Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans.
Happiness is?
Fresh brewed coffee in the morning.
What does the future hold for you?
Hopefully plenty more acting gigs, ha! In August I am excited to be returning to Holden Street Theatres for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? I love this play and this special venue in South Australia.
Chris features in Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? – which will play at the Holden Street Theatres from 5 – 16 August 2025. For more information, visit: www.holdenstreettheatres.com for details.
