On the Couch with Cath Jamison

Cath Jamison Arts Review On the CouchWho is Cath Jamison?
Australia’s Leading Female magician and Australia’s only Female mentalist.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I would go on an adventure performing around the world.

Who inspires you and why?
Other genres of entertainment, music, peers and life experiences. I love creating something new and different that is inspired by other ways of connecting and entertaining an audience.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Bring positivity and kindness into the world. Bringing joy to audiences and when I do my public speaking in girls schools, I encourage young girls that anything is possible. I did try and contact the relevant parties at one stage, about performing and teaching magic to the children/adults refugees at offshore processing centres. But was not accepted. I love bringing magic to those who don’t have an opportunity to experience it.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Howqua Hills. This is such a gorgeous camping spot we love going to, as it is away from everything and is in the most amazing bush. Australia has so much to offer.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I live down Mornington Peninsula way and there is so much down here. Foxeys Winery for their legendary wines, Seawinds for the amazing view of the bay, Bushrangers Bay – a hidden treasure and guaranteed to see at least twenty kangaroos on the walk, cycling at Point Nepean, and the Briars and it’s Homestead – where you can learn and see the connection with Napoleon, and play croquet, totally fascinating.

What are you currently reading?
My latest Magic book…shhh it’s a secret!

What are you currently listening to?
Annie Lennox – Nostalgia (amazing!)

Happiness is?
Doing what I love and entertaining people, spending time with my partner, dinner and laughs with friends, magic jams with fellow magis, new adventures, and ghost hunting.

What does the future hold for you?
It is an exciting time for me as I’m venturing into a new phase of my career and personal aspirations.

Cath will be presenting Conjure Woman at the Northcote Town Hall (7 – 9 July) as part of the 2016 Melbourne Magic Festival. For more information, visit: www.melbournemagicfestival.com for details.
