On the Couch with Cassandra Hart

Cassandra-Hart-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Cassandra Hart?
Cassandra is an Actor, Producer and recipient of the Adelaide Fringe Artist Fund for 2023. Hailing from Adelaide, Cassandra now calls Melbourne home. Having spent time training under some of Australia’s finest performers and performing arts Educators whilst attending Film and Television Studio International, Cassandra spends her time pursuing opportunities in Melbourne’s Independent Theatre scene, with the occasional screen work thrown in for good measure, all the while also working for, what she whole-heartedly believes is the best chocolate company in the world, Haigh’s. She is currently kept busy with the first Interstate tour of Shakespeare Aliens which she co-produces and stars in.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
To be honest, I have pretty great balance of performance vs. ‘pay the bills’ work right now; but, what Actor wouldn’t want to be performing full time? Outside of that, I’d love to run a performance art space for Children/Teens from low socio-economic backgrounds, who don’t necessarily have the means to access tutelage in the arts outside of the secondary education arena.

Who inspires you and why?
I don’t think I can narrow this down to a single person. But more-so, all the people in the world who make it their goal to better the lives of others. The Kind, The Determined, The ‘minorities’ who shouldn’t be looked at by a label, but simply as another human, holding their space in the world. Those who face adversity every single day, look it straight in the eye and say “Challenge Accepted”. You are seen, I see You.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Little things amount to big things when many people do them – I endeavour to be the person I described above. Live my life with compassion and understanding, and hope that every act amounts to something big by the time I have spent all the time I am meant to spend in this world.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Living away from Family, means that trips home are always going to be my favourite – wouldn’t forgo a little tropical island getaway in the near future though.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Even though I have called Melbourne home for 5 years, I still feel like a tourist in my own town if I’m honest. I’d probably ask them for suggestions! We’d have fun exploring new things together.

What are you currently reading?
Scripts! Preparing for the show that comes next after the Adelaide Fringe Season is over, it’ll be back to Melbourne and into rehearsals for the MICF show I am performing in, so it’s all systems go on learning lines right now!

What are you currently listening to?
I’m currently having a love affair with Pink’s new song Trustfall – I swear it’s been on repeat for about a week now.

Happiness is?
Cuddles with my nieces and nephews, who live interstate. The cuddles aren’t frequent so the joy is almost unbearable when I get to squeeze them. I don’t think there is a more ‘full’ feeling than that.

What does the future hold for you?
Oh goodness!! Who knows?! I hope great things – time will tell I guess!
