On the Couch with Brendan Maclean

Brendan Maclean Arts Review On the CouchWho is Brendan Maclean?
A queer intellectual power broker.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Wouldn’t have set up the expectation that I’m a genuinely enthusiastic outgoing person.

Who inspires you and why?
iOTA, Paul Capsis, Megan Washington, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Sisters Grimm. And if you don’t know why then maybe you need to get out and see some theatre… Jesus!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Make abortion freely accessible all over the world.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Lake Como, Italy – because it feels like what fairy tales are based on.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
Well I’ve got a pretty good weed dealer I like to visit, but usually I just take them to see Velvet and that makes them feel special.

What are you currently reading?
There’s a magazine on the hotel table called Barossa Living. I read the front cover: Top Dogs – All In A Day’s Work For Man’s Best Friend. It didn’t interest me enough to open the magazine.

What are you currently listening to?
Sarah Blasko’s Eternal Return. It’s pretty much perfect, but can you really be surprised. She’s always making me care about albums again.

Happiness is?
When someone cancels plans for a thing you didn’t want to go to.

What does the future hold for you?
Releasing singles, EPs, Albums, probably doing Velvet a few more times. I have a meeting at 5pm today.
