On the Couch with Bradley Storer

Bradley Storer Arts Review On the CouchWho is Bradley Storer?
A swirling mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in a coat. In the more literal sense, a music theatre/dark cabaret performer based in Melbourne.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
In another life I think I would have been a librarian or owned a bookstore – a perfect excuse to hang around books all day!

Who inspires you and why?
People who can still practice gratitude and find joy even in tough times – mainly because this is a quality I try and cultivate in myself as much as possible!

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Practice forgiveness and understanding more often.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I just came back from New York and absolutely fell in love with the place! The theatre culture and the history of the city, and just the sheer energy and drive.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I generally take people to The Butterfly Club for a cocktail – it’s one of the most quintessential Melbourne experiences, quirky, kitschy and alcohol-soaked.

What are you currently reading?
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert – for the fourth or fifth time.

What are you currently listening to?
The voices in my head.

Happiness is?
Going to sleep without having to set an alarm to wake you up in the morning!

What does the future hold for you?
I have a show coming up this week at the Butterfly Club: Trickster – a dark-indie cabaret exploring the insanities of the modern world using songs from Nick Cave, Kate Bush and many others, which I’m hoping to take on the road next year!

Trickster plays at The Butterfly Club at 10.00pm on Thursday 14 & Friday 15 October 2016. For more information, visit: www.thebutterflyclub.com for details.
