On the Couch with Ayesha Tansey

Ayesha-Tansey-AAR-On-the-CouchWho is Ayesha Tansey?
Always up for some mischievousness, likes talking about politics at first light, accidental clown, earnest, ridiculous, loving, party animal.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Find a side hustle in my early 20’s that would make an actors life easier. Maybe a hairdresser, landscape/gardener, copywriter…

Who inspires you and why?
Optimists. Passion. Dogs. I fell out of a bus once because I was trying to pat a dog. I can’t my own at the moment because I live in a teeny apartment but I often find myself scrolling lost dog websites.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Plant forests. I saw a lecture many years ago and the gentleman spoke about the need for thinking long term – after our lives have come and gone. It feels a radical in this insta culture and would be an incredible legacy.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Places I’ve never been – because I love adventures and family holiday houses I’ve been to a million times.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
Down to the Peninsula for the sparkling bay water, wine & bush walks. I grew up in Mornington and the smell of the salt bush and pine is in my blood.

What are you currently reading?
The Indian Cookery Course by Monisha Bharadwaj. I cooked every recipe in a Vietnamese cookbook in lockdown – and loved it so I’m teaching myself about another cuisine now.

What are you currently listening to?
Arcade Fire, Lauryn Hill, Wu Tang Clan and Paul Simon.

Happiness is?
Love.

What does the future hold for you?
Who knows! Voice overs, holidays in faraway places, new horizons, a bigger home and a dog?
