On the Couch with Antoniette Iesue

Antoniette Iesue AAR On the CouchWho is Antoniette lesue?
I’m an actress living in LA but originally from Melbourne, Australia. I studied at the Western Academy of Preforming Arts majoring in Musical Theatre, however I quickly fell in love with acting and started down the Film and TV path… although I still find time to sing… in the shower! I also LOVE cooking which I get from my beautiful Italian Mum!

What would you do differently to what you do now?
I think for a long time I wasn’t as confident in my abilities as an actress and I let that get me down from time to time. The older I get and the more experience I gain within this industry the more I realise how important true confidence within yourself and abilities is and how much that shows within everything you do.

Who inspires you and why?
My mother inspires me the most. She came into her own success later on in life, but she never gave up on her dream and watching her live out those dreams today is truly inspiring. I try to live by her motto every day, “I can and I will”.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I think I’d use my voice and platform as an actress to talk about mental health within our youth and social media. I do it now with my younger cousins and their friends, talking openly about how unstable social media can be and the reality of how it affects us. I also strongly believe in paying it forward – it’s a small gesture with massive benefits. Encouraging people to slow down, understand themselves and encourage growth and understanding to then pass onto the next person that walks into their life.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Paris! The food, the fashion and the lifestyle are something I’ve always loved.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I live in LA and I’m very food orientated ha! So, when I have friends and family come over, I always take them Downtown to the Grand Central Markets and Smorgasburg!

What are you currently reading?
I’m reading two books at the moment! The Good Sister by Gillian McAllister and The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.

What are you currently listening to?
Oooh! So many great tunes but I’m stuck on BANKS’ new album and Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You is pretty incredible as well!

Happiness is?
Easy morning sunshine, many cups of coffee and kissing my man!

What does the future hold for you?
I have another project that I’ve wrapped on and is under way but I can’t say too much until it has its release date. I’m also taking some much-needed family time in Melbourne while I’m here promoting the new film Promised.

Antoniette stars in Promised – which screens in cinemas across Australia from 24 October 2019. For more information, visit: www.umbrellaentfilms.com.au for details.
