On the Couch with Anthony Taufa

Anthony Taufa AAR On the CouchWho is Anthony Taufa?
He is a dad, a husband, a creator who is playing poker in The Odd Couple at the Comedy Theatre Melbourne and Theatre Royal Sydney.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
If I wasn’t acting, I would love to have a small business, my own Barbershop where I would cut hair and talk with other men about the trials and tribulations of this world.

Who inspires you and why?
My wife Megan inspires me. She is a great actor in her own right, a patient mum and a partner who supports me and looks after me through all my foibles.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
In order to make a difference in the world, I want to be the best artist I can be. Visibility is an important factor for people of colour to see faces that are not ‘the norm’ so I would try to make a little difference in that department.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
I went on a holiday to New York City last year with my family – what a place. I saw one of the greatest pieces of theatre and explored Brooklyn and Manhattan, and they had great eating and life and it was only a small part of a thriving and inspiring city.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
When friends come to Sydney, I take them to Newtown for good eating and nightlife, Bondi Beach for the touristy thing and Circular Quay for great photos.

What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Showboat by Roland Lazenby which is a Kobe Bryant biography about the great LA Lakers Basketball player.

What are you currently listening to?
I am currently listening to Jordan Rakei. He is an Australian artist who makes Neo-soul music.

Happiness is?
Happiness is best shared. Family, friends and ‘framily’ (your chosen family) are where I find happiness lies.

What does the future hold for you?
The future for me is to raise my three boys with my wife and be the best citizen I can be.
