On the Couch with Anthony Crowley

Anthony Crowley Arts Review On the CouchWho is Anthony Crowley?
Playwright and theatre-maker. Performing in his play Redemption opening Thursday 17 March at La Mama Courthouse.

What would you do differently to what you do now?
In another life? Hmmm, open a permaculture business and teach people how to feed themselves – and give away the excess veges.

Who inspires you and why?
The people who traveled to Rome to face Cardinal Pell. The resilience they have to survive the horrifying events in their lives and still force positive change.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Invent a way to list ephemeral qualities like compassion on the stock market – so we can see just how rare they are in this country – and start paying attention to our portfolio.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Wilson’s Promontory. It’s where I go with my eldest son to consider all things existential. That and the wombats.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take then to, and why?
The Botanical Gardens. I’ve never been anywhere else in the world quite like it.

What are you currently reading?
Catch 22 – for the 22nd time.

What are you currently listening to?
The Churches latest album and a blues folk singer called Frazey Ford – very mellow.

Happiness is?
Having a play opening at La Mama.

What does the future hold for you?
A lot of communion wine and wafers.

Anthony’s latest play, Redemption will be presented at La Mama Courthouse: 17 – 27 March 2016. For more information, visit: www.lamama.com.au for details.
