On the Couch with Andrew Wang

Diva Wars Andrew Wang Arts Review On the CouchWho is Andrew Wang?
I am an Australian born Chinese (ABC), I grew up on the Northern Beaches. I’ve grown up studying performing arts, it all started when my mum got me to do acting to help with my shyness. I’ve been bitten by the bug ever since. After high school I studied Musical Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) Sydney and received my Bachelor of Music. I have also studied with various other different institutions including the New York Film Academy (NYFA), Screenwise and the Sydney Actors Association (SAA).

What would you do differently to what you do now?
Nothing, I absolutely love what I am doing. As a performer there is nothing more rewarding then being able to create and tell a story.

Who inspires you and why?
My parents, they came to Australia with nothing and built their lives by setting goals and achieving them through hard work.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
I would stand up for what I believe in and not be scared to support what is right against ignorance and hate.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Japan! I have been there once briefly and am bustling to go again. The food is amazing!

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would take them to the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House as they are iconic. After that’s all done I would then take them on a drive to the Blue Mountains for the scenic views.

What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading a awesome book of poems called Slant by Andy Quan.

What are you currently listening to?
I’m currently listening to the Evita soundtrack.

Happiness is?
Happiness is doing what you love doing with those that you love. Spending every day with no regrets and living each day to Its fullest.

What does the future hold for you?
Many more laughs with new and old friends.
