On the Couch with Alexandra Cashmere

Alexandra Cashmere AAR On the CouchWho is Alexandra Cashmere?
I’m a 22-year-old born and raised in Melbourne. I grew up in a loving family of 4, playing every sport under the sun. Choosing to follow my passion for the arts after my high school journey ended I trained at the VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) obtaining a Bachelor in Fine Arts, Music Theatre.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
Growing up I always knew I would end up in the arts. It’s really hard to know what I would do differently at this point in my life/career as I’ve always felt so fulfilled by the artistic and creative side of life and I feel so grateful for where I am at. I wouldn’t hope to be doing anything differently as of now.

Who inspires you and why?
My beautiful older sister Ginny inspires me everyday. She has always been there for me and has shown me what to do, and sometimes what not to do… but I have always felt so incredibly lucky to have someone like her by my side.

We’ve reached best friend status in our sister relationship and she is always pushing me to be my best self in all aspects of my life. She has a great outlook on this world and if I can carry even a little bit of her love and light with me, I will feel like I’ve succeeded.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how to grocery shop… But from my 22 years on this planet I can safely say that I know, kindness, love and laughter is the best place to start.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
My favourite holiday destination has been Paris, France. I genuinely felt like I was in a movie the entire time and it was the first time I felt completely swept up in another culture.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to and why?
The MCG 100%. During AFL season it is the greatest atmosphere to be amongst…. Especially when the Cats are playing!

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading a book by Dolly Alderton called Everything I Know About Love.

What are you currently listening to
I’ve been listening to a lot of Olivia Dean at the moment. Her voice and music is addictive.

Happiness is?
Dogs.

What does the future hold for you?
After I finish up with The Producers (Joshua Robson Productions) I have been extremely lucky to be cast in the Australian premiere of Back to the Future The Musical – which will be opening in Sydney at the Lyric Theatre later this year. I’m keen to experience life as much as I can and to not take it too seriously.

Alexandra stars as Ulla in The Producers – which recently completed a sold-out season at the Hayes Theatre Co, before playing at Parramatta’s Riverside Theatres from 15 – 18 May 2025. For more information, visit: www.riversideparramatta.com.au for details.
