On the Couch with Adrian Tamburini

Adrian Tamburini AAR On the CouchWho is Adrian Tamburini?
I’m a 40-something singer, pianist, music educator, director and producer living in Melbourne (Naam). I am also a proud member of the LGBTIQA+ community. Born into an immigrant Italian family, I have music in my DNA and a huge appreciation for art and culture. I am a fitness freak who has a new obsession with cycling (some may call me a MAMIL). I have a 25 year old daughter, and my partner and I have just celebrated our 15 year anniversary.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I would be a Personal Trainer and run a fitness centre.

Who inspires you and why?
I take great inspiration from my family. But I get a lot of inspiration from people living their fullest and truest lives.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
This is a really difficult question for me. Firstly, because so many people who hear me sing or see me perform say that I am making a difference in the world by sharing my art and talent. But, I also have a long list of things that I desperately need the time and the money to affect positive change in the world.

The first thing that I will do, and hopefully before the year is out, is to create 4 scholarships to study singing and piano at my music studio (Pure Harmony Music Studio) in Melbourne. Each scholarship will be open to, 1. First nations student, 2. Disabled student, 3. Trans Student, 4. Refugee Student.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
It’s still Italy. I can never tire of the homeland.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I nearly always bring them to the Mornington Peninsula. We’d start at a winery or museum, then go to the top of Arthurs Seat for a long walk, sometimes a walk at Point Nepean National Park, followed by ice-cream along one of the countless beaches.

What are you currently reading?
I am an avid poetry reader. Currently, I am juggling 36 Ways of Writing a Vietnamese Poem by Nam Le; Alexa, what is there to know about love? by Brian Bilston; and A Year of Last Things by Michael Ondaatje.

What are you currently listening to?
The Telepathy Tapes – a podcast by Ky Dickens.

Happiness is?
… a journey not a destination.

What does the future hold for you?
Countless blessings and challenges for as long as I am lucky to walk this earth and breathe this air.
