Who is Adam Noviello?
Call me Addy, all my friends do! Mx Noviello is a non-binary actor, singer and songwriter based in Naarm (Melbourne) and currently starring in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH 🎸
What would you do differently from what you do now?
I honestly have no idea. As long as I can recall I have been and have wanted to be an artist. But let’s get creative! I mean, being an heiress looks cool. I’d give that a solid go.
Who inspires you and why?
I have many muses to be honest. For life, my Grandma is a huge inspiration to me. She lives each day to the absolute fullest and is unconditional love personified. She paraglided on her 80th birthday! Such a legend. As an artist, inspirations come from many angles. For passion, resilience, and authenticity, I look to Judy Garland, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, to name a few…
What would you do to make a difference in the world?
With a bigger platform, I’d want to spread messages of love, acceptance and equality further and wider. Sadly there’s a fascist in the white house and a transphobic author of a series of witchcraft and wizardry novels using twitter and money to try and erase trans and queer people.
But what these horrendous people and their followers don’t seem to understand is that queer and trans people have been around far longer than their hatred. So, with a bigger platform, I would use every resource available to me to counter these despicable pests of humans beings. No one loses when we lead with kindness and tolerance for folks who might be different from us. Literally no one.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
I’ve actually just come off a 5 week Europe trip! So my instinct is to name places I’ve just been! Amsterdam for fun times, Spain for the sun and the beaches. But my favourite place in the world is New York City. A city of theatre, music, art, culture and liberation.
When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I live in South Yarra, so I would definitely take them for a gorgeous sunny walk through the botanical gardens. But I also love the bars on the river on Southbank for an afternoon cocktail. Yarra Botanica is a favourite. 1806 is also a favourite bar of mine in the city on Exhibition Street.
What are you currently reading?
I just finished Erin Riley’s book A Real Piece Of Work. Highly recommended!
What are you currently listening to?
At this very second, I am playing Laufey’s album Bewitched. But I’m also still spinning SZA’s album ‘SOS Deluxe: LANA’, and ‘Mayhem’ by mother monster Lady Gaga.
Happiness is?
An afternoon in the sun playing games and drinking with my chosen family and best friends.
What does the future hold for you?
We’re taking HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH on the road baby! We’re playing at the Athenaeum Theatre here in Naarm, before heading to Carriageworks in Gadigal Country. Beyond that, I am cooking up new music, so folks can keep an eye on my social media and follow me on Spotify for that. Mwah!
