MICF: Craig Hill – Up and Coming!

MICF Craig Hill Up and ComingResplendent in blue leather kilt, a sizeable sporran, and neat blue shirt, Craig Hill led the room through an hour of uproarious stand-up. What a braw man. Well, it was more a conversation than the mostly one-way traffic of a traditional stand-up comedy set. His banter was terrific, his fascination with people’s geography turned into anecdotes, longer stories, or just pithy asides.

There are some comedians where you sit relieved at the beginning of their act that they won’t be able to pick you out in the darkness, yet with Craig you soon regret not sitting closer.

The sense of the not knowing what an audience will bring him must be intoxicating in a way. On this night, Craig managed to find multiple IT consultants (no relation), a woman named Gay, and a couple of Scots from the posh part of Glasgow. All of it was wonderful.

Not too many shows have such rewatchability as Up & Coming! For now, though, forget about the third or fourth time you’re going see it. Concentrate on seeing it for the first time. It’s a hilarious show that deserves a full house. Get there and get in front.
