Melbourne International Animation Festival

Chile ImaginarioMelbourne International Animation Festival (MIAF) hits the screens and podiums from June 19 at ACMI with a whopping eleven day celebration of the best current, retrospective and historical animated films from around the world!

This years’ festival includes the jam-packed two day RENDER Animation Conference – a four part Symposium; Blend (presented in association with Deakin University), Meet the Filmmaker presentations, workshops and masterclasses, a free Careers in Animation forum (presented by Holmesglen), and a bunch of super impressive international and local guests.

Annual programming kicks off with the Opening Night Sneak Peek Screening, and includes the all important Australian Showcase, Best of the Next student festival (presented in association with Studio Moshi), Late Night Bizarre, Kids Program, Music Video and the much-loved Best of the Fest.

It also wouldn’t be MIAF without the specially curated sessions! The 2014 program includes: 3 Days In Paris, South American Showcase, Chris Sullivan (USA), Quickdraw Animation Society 30th Anniversary, McLarens’s Influence, and a feature presentation of The Stressful Adventures of Boxhead and Roundheads by Melbourne’s own, Elliot Cowan.

Then of course there’s our annual buffet of award winners, outstanding industry veterans, inspiring independents, studios and newcomers. It’s massive! For lovers of animation, film and festivals alike, the MIAF14 is not to be missed!
