Opera Australia’s immensely popular free event, Mazda Opera in the Bowl returns to Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday 24 November with a revered line up of Australia’s finest opera singers and musical talent.
This family friendly event offers Melburnians the chance to enjoy the soaring melodies of some of the world’s greatest music, with the city skyline as the magnificent backdrop. Mazda Opera in the Bowl unlocks a special opportunity for both first-time operagoers and enthusiasts, inviting them to experience highlights from the world’s most popular operas.
Audience members will be treated to adored numbers from Carmen, Turandot, Tosca and The Barber of Seville, by some of opera’s most loved composers including Puccini, Verdi and Bizet. Performed by four of Australia’s finest soloists and Orchestra Victoria, this wonderful night of entertainment is free of charge, in an important effort to make the arts more accessible to Australians.
Staged at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl – one of the country’s premiere open-air venues – Mazda Opera in the Bowl features true masters of the craft, who will lead the performance, including soprano Natalie Aroyan, mezzosoprano Sian Pendry, tenor Virgilio Marino, and baritone Luke Gabbedy, with Orchestra Victoria conducted by Tahu Matheson.
