After a series of disastrous dates with age-appropriate, dull suitors, Marilyn sets her online dating demographics to 30 – 40 year olds. Almost overnight, her inbox overflows with young hotties wanting to spoil her and remind her how gorgeous and talented she is.
They love her sweet nurturing nature, passion and energy. When a 32 year old hottie makes advances as she’s tending to her slow cooked lamb, he’s so young and the oxytocin flows so fast, she nearly starts lactating!
Directed by Jeremy Stanford (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), The MILF Next Door is created by Marilyn Leder, co-creator and co-writer of the critically acclaimed television comedy, Whatever Happened to That Guy – an Australian version of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Leder is a film and television lecturer, screenwriter and script assessor and previously interned at 20th Century Fox for Jason Alexander (George – Seinfeld) and NBC Development in Los Angeles, searching for new writers for Seinfeld, Frasier and Friends.
Leder has toured Australasia in Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story musical and has performed stand-up comedy widely in Melboune as well as in Los Angeles at The Improv and The Comedy Store, where she likes to brag that Chris Rock once supported her (he actually pushed in before her set to test some material).
“As a comedy writer, online dating has been the gift that keeps on giving,” said Leder. “Dating has mostly been great fun and when it hasn’t gone my way, I’ve always had a great story to tell. I do love finding the funny in heartache and adversity.”
“The show is fun, cheeky and life affirming. In an era of unapologetic female empowerment it’s great fun to subvert the worn-out stereotype of older men chasing after younger women. It’s nice to live in an era of the MILF. Never has my kitchen seen so much action!” Leder added.
