Marcus Westbury named Contemporary Arts Precinct CEO

CAP Marcus WestburyThe Chair of the Contemporary Arts Precinct (CAP) in Collingwood, Daniel Besen, has announced the appointment of Marcus Westbury as the inaugural CEO.

CAP is an exciting new charitable and social enterprise entity that will turn the former Collingwood Technical School site into a vibrant, cross-disciplinary cultural precinct.

Mr. Besen said CAP will provide artists and creative organisations a new creative hub to connect with new audiences and reduce barriers for participation in the arts to the broader community.

“Marcus’ appointment represents a perfect alignment of factors: a remarkable site, a passionate board and CEO with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create something new and exciting,” said Mr. Besen.

Marcus Westbury was the founder of the multi award winning Renew Newcastle and Renew Australia projects. He has a long background and varied experience in the arts as a Festival Director, consultant, broadcaster and writer. He will formally begin as CAP CEO on 1 February 2016.
