Love lust and power collide in The Sea

This December, Abbotsford Convent will come alive with a captivating season of The Sea. Join Forest Collective and BK Opera for a visceral exploration of love, lust and the corrupting influence of power in relationships.

In a ground-breaking debut collaboration between Forest Collective and BK Opera, embark on a journey like no other, as the performance explores the intricate tapestry of human connection, power, and the corrupting influence of relationships.

Composer Evan J Lawson’s music is a mirror reflecting humanity. From the depths of the human soul, Lawson brings together the worlds of rich and melodic classical music with dynamic and fresh new sounds. Lawson’s music illuminates the complex interplay of emotions and power dynamics in relationships.

Paired with the haunting words of poet Nicole Butcher, and directed by the visionary Kate Millett (Artistic Director BK Opera), this work brings to the stage the depths of human connection, showcasing the raw and often turbulent nature of relationships.

The Sea features Daniel Szesiong Todd, Aleise Bright, Henry Shaw, Archie Rumsam, Amanda Windred and SODA, with musicians from Forest Collective.

The words and music will expose the corrosive nature of power and the profound impact it can have on the human experience. Be swept away by this thought-provoking and immersive opera.
