London’s must-see supernatural thriller to make Australian Premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in July 2023

GWB-Entertainment-222-A-Ghost-StoryGWB Entertainment has confirmed 2:22 – A Ghost Story will make its Australian premiere at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre from 25 July 2023.

2.22 – A Ghost Story originally burst on the West End stage in 2021 and LA in 2022, and has since snowballed into a cult global phenomenon. The Olivier nominated production and winner of Best New Play (What’s on Stage) unleashes its unique combination of supernatural intrigue and social commentary in a spine-chilling thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Written by award-winning writer and creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, Danny Robins, and directed by Olivier Award-winner Matthew Dunster, 2:22 – A Ghost Story is a brilliantly funny and adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge, and ghosts may or may not appear. What do you believe? And do you dare discover the truth?

Over a spiralling dinner party between friends, boundaries are pushed, secrets are spilled and beliefs are tested. Jenny believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. Can the dead really walk again?

Belief and scepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer. So they’re going to stay up until 2:22… and then they’ll know.

“I’m utterly delighted that 2:22 – A Ghost Story is making the journey to Australia,” said Danny Robins. “I can’t believe the journey my play has gone on but I think it’s testament to just how much people enjoy a good spine-tingling story and the brilliance of this production from our incredible creative team.”

“We have loved scaring and entertaining audiences in the UK and the US with this unique, edge of your seat show and now it’s time to unleash it on Melbourne.”

“Get ready to jump, laugh, cry, and be going home talking long into the night about whether ghosts exist. What do you believe? And do you dare come and watch to find out?” said Robins.

2:22 – A Ghost Story has developed a cult following in both the UK and USA. It’s a testament to its originality as a piece of storytelling that it is both laugh-out-loud fun but also seriously scary. But most of all, it’s a fast-paced, action-packed, adrenaline-filled night out,” said Torben Brookman on behalf of the producers.

2:22 – A Ghost Story has seen a number of high-profile actors and celebrities cast, adding another dimension for audiences, with Lily Allen making her theatrical debut, Sophia Bush, Stephanie Beatriz, Tom Felton and Cheryl all joining subsequent seasons, and Constance Wu and Finn Wittrock cast in the LA production. An Australian cast announcement will be made imminently.

2:22 – A Ghost Story features set design by Anna Fleischle, costume design by Cindy Lin, lighting design by Lucy Carter, sound by Ian Dickinson, and illusions by Chris Fisher.

2:22 – A Ghost Story is produced by Tristan Baker & Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David, Kater Gordon and GWB Entertainment in association with Jones Theatrical Group.
