Living in the ’70s by The 60 Four

The 60 Four photo by Samuel GravesThe four guys that formed ‘the 60 four’ met in high school and although they seem quite young they have been doing this kind of show for a decade, and it shows.

From the moment they burst onto the flamingo tent’s stage in their matching jackets, the pace, and energy (and synchronised dance moves) does not let up.

Backed by five live musicians they take you through their curated hits of the 70s, in well arranged seamless four part harmony, with equally seamless introductions and banter in between.

The ensemble energy is so high that even when singers and musicians have their featured moment or solo they still sit in the same place in the sound mix, which made me internally scream ‘turn them up!’ in my own kind of internal Beatlemania.

By the second to last song bespectacled vocalist Ben Francis was so in the pocket inhabiting the vocals, that I had to tell him so at the meet and greet photo opportunity afterwards.

By the time the show ends it feels like both audience and performers have warmed up and it’s just about to go supersonic, which leaves you wanting more – even were it just to see where the energy could climb to.

The kids who grew up listening to their parents 70s records should come along, and bring their parents for a stellar family night out, you can even say ‘hi’ to the guys mums who man the merch table. A sixty four star night out!
