After two sell-out seasons in 2012 and 2013 and having brought the house down everywhere from New York to Edinburgh, Paris to Chicago, London to Stockholm, Sydney’s summer sensation La Soirée returns in January 2014.
Outrageous, sexy and hilarious, expect the unexpected as the world’s greatest exponents of cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and vaudeville take centre stage once again!
An original member of La Soirée, Miss Behave is the last female sword-swallower in the West. The husky voiced courtesan of comedy will leave you squirming in your seat with her legendary sideshow acts. It just wouldn’t be La Soirée without her.
Armed with her cult striptease act and its mischievous disappearing hanky, British cabaret star Ursula Martinez will make her long awaited return to The Studio. With a performance that shifts between the high and low brow, audiences can expect to emerge from this performance with a surprising awareness of anatomy.
For the first time in Sydney two of the world’s finest aerial artists Hugo & Katherine will send shivers down audience member’s spines with their gravity defying acrobatics and one of Sweden’s finest circus acts David & Fofo will amaze audiences with ping pong balls, juggling, acrobatics and trapeze work.
Hailing from Elcho Island off the coast of Arnhem Land, YouTube sensations The Chooky Dancers will be joining La Soiree for the first time. The Chooky Dancers became overnight internet sensations when their contemporary dance version of the traditional ‘Zorba the Greek’ went viral. The young dance troupe fuse traditional Aboriginal and contemporary dance, comedy and clowning, resulting in an uplifting, inspiring performance.
Channelling the great operatic divas and church-singing jazz mamas, Australia’s fastest rising cabaret star Yana Alana and sassy charmer and Australian hula hooper Jess Love complete the 2014 line up….for now!
