The Queen Victoria Women’s Centre Trust has announce the appointment of Jo Porter as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“As Chair of the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre Trust, I am very happy to announce the appointment of Jo Porter as the Centre’s new CEO,” said Van Badham, Chair Queen Victoria Women’s Centre Trust. “Jo is a dynamic and imaginative cultural leader whose international experience and local passion brings fantastic, fresh energy to the role.”
“With her at the helm, we are ambitious to realise the potential of the QVWC to become a cultural icon of the city, a place to be mentioned alongside the like of the State Library, Malthouse, NGV and Wheeler Centre as one of Melbourne’s unique treasures.”
“In announcing this news, I would also like to acknowledge the tireless commitment of Michelle Walsh who has led our management transition in the role of Acting CEO for the past year, and we are thrilled to retain her enthusiasm and experience in our team as the Finance Manager,” added Badham.
Since 2014, Jo has been working on a Masters in Development Studies at the University of Melbourne and working as a consultant in the arts – most recently as Co-Producer of Victoria’s inaugural Regional Centre for Culture.
Other roles in Australia, UK and USA have included: Executive Producer of Malthouse Theatre, General Manager of a range of commercial theatre productions and head of creative development at Richard Frankel Productions in New York and Head of Business Development at Really Useful Group in London.
Jo teaches Governance and Leadership as part of NIDA’s MFA in Cultural Leadership and has been working with independent artists including Joseph (JOF) O’Farrell, Samara Hersch, Little Ones Theatre and others.
Other recent clients include NORPA, Theatre Works, Arena Theatre, the Centre for Contemporary Photography, City of Ballarat, Chamber Made Opera, Theatre Works, and St Martins Youth Theatre. Jo is a very proud former Chair of Back to Back Theatre and sits on the Theatre Works board.
