The latest solo clown/sketch adventure developed by comedian Jeromaia Detto, MUSH is currently playing at The Motley Bauhaus, as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, until 5 April, with an extra show schedule for Wednesday 19 April 2023.
MUSH delves into the weirdness and mushiness of our minds, taking a silly and light hearted approach to exploring a range of absurdly odd yet charming characters.
With a range of audience interaction, this mush is brought to light, squished around and shaped into whatever it needs to be each night, changing to suit however the audience enjoys to play.
Globally we have lost focus on celebrating the little moments that pop up all around us. Jeromaia aims to create a space that allows these moments to be highlighted and celebrated.
Drawing inspiration from his cultural background, his quirky interpretations of the world and the excess props in his collection, Jeromaia has put together an hour of fast paced whimsy.
This notion of importance of play was further reinforced while he spent 2 years in France studying clown and theatre with the master of freedom and play, Philippe Gaulier.
This underpins his drive to perform and create positive performance spaces where crowds are encouraged to engage and join the fun, impacting the stories in front of them.
Jeromaia Detto is an award nominated Melbourne based artist who has been training, performing and producing across the globe for almost a decade.
He is a Maestro National Improv Champion, an Impro Australia ‘All-Star’ and is a core member of the internationally established Lost Cabaret, having been involved in seasons in Sydney, Paris and Melbourne.
Internationally he has trained with the iO Theatre in Chicago, at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France and with the Norway Clown Camp. He also teaches improv and clown across the globe facilitating workshops for school kids, adults and theatre groups.
