Impossible Occurrences

Impossible OccurrencesConjuring up a classy twist on Friday nights in Melbourne, audiences are invited into the astounding world of magician Luke Hocking when he launches his new show Impossible Occurrences.

With his fresh and sophisticated take on sleight-of-hand illusions, Luke interweaves seemingly impossible feats, including his signature ‘Unravelling the Ball of Yarn’ trick, with a sparkling, fast-paced narrative. Bank notes, cards, rings and even a goldfish make appearances—and disappearances—in this brilliantly entertaining show.

Billed as Melbourne’s exclusive magic show, Impossible Occurrences recreates the ambience of a vaudeville salon and combines it with modern-day theatrical magic in the sumptuous surrounds of the five-star Marriott Hotel.

Luke’s passion for magic was ignited at the tender age of five, when he received a magic kit for his birthday. He starting performing for friends and family, and at school in Bairnsdale, regional Victoria. When caught with a cheat sheet during a high school exam and asked to hand it over, he made it disappear, which annoyed the teacher no end.

He performed his first professional magic show at 16 and has since written, co-produced and starred in sold-out shows at major festivals including Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe and the Melbourne Magic Festival. Luke has emerged from these formative experiences as a masterful illusionist, consummate entertainer and successful professional magician with a swag of amazing tricks up his sleeve!

Luke’s engaging style and innovative approach to magic have led critics to praise his work as Hilarious and awe-inspiring – Buzzcuts Express Media, A true highlight – Walt Disney Company), and Funny and, most importantly, entertaining – Herald Sun.
