Hundreds of Pride festivals from across the globe have been cancelled due to Covid-19, but the Pride spirit lives on! The Global Pride 24-hour online broadcast is happening on YouTube and Facebook from 3.00pm this Saturday afternoon (AEST).
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has helped curate two and a half hours of footage from Australia and the Pacific region. They worked with the teams at Brisbane Pride, Midsumma, Tropical Fruits and many more Pride and LGBTQI organisations from across Australia, along with our Kiwi friends at Auckland Pride and the Wellington International Pride Parade.
The Australian content in the show will begin at 4:15pm this Saturday (Sydney time) so it’s among the first countries included – after the messages of welcome, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand.
There are lots of Aussies in the broadcast, including performances by Courtney Act, Betty Who, G Flip, Mama Alto and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir, plus very special messages from Dannii Minogue, Olivia Newton-John, Equality Australia, ACON’s TransHub, Bi+ Visibility, the Koori Pride Network Victoria and many more.
Todrick Hall will host the 24-hour livestream Pride event featuring activists, community leaders and public figures – plus performances including Pabllo Vittar, Kesha, Adam Lambert, Pussy Riot, Big Freedia, Village People, Courtney Act, Natasha Bedingfield, Betty Who, Melanie C, Max, and Calum Scott. Checkout the full schedule on the Global Pride website.
Don’t miss this incredible show on Saturday! Watch on the Global Pride website or on YouTube.
