Hispanic Attack

Ryan Gonzalez Hispanic AttackThe hilarious smash hit of Hayes Theatre Co’s 2016 Cabaret Season that played to sellout audiences and rapturous standing ovations, Hispanic Attack will make its Melbourne debut this September.

Iconic Spanish singer, songwriter, dancer, telenovela star, and three-time Eurovision Song Contest participant Ryan Gonzalez (his Mama wanted to give him an exotic first name) is a superstar all over the Latin world. Idol, heart-throb, and seven-time Latin Grammy nominee, his life is a blur of parties, ladies, and sold-out arena tours.

In 2016, he finally brings his legendary Hispanic passion down under, with the aim of single-handedly helping Latin music overtake cricket, gambling and casual racism as Australia’s most popular artform. After his planned arena tour was abruptly cancelled as a result of a mysterious sales-related complication, Gonzalez has agreed to make a handful of extra-special up-close-and-personal cabaret appearances in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne instead.

Featuring music from the world’s most popular Latin artists including Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Lou Bega, and even Gonzalez’s former ‘Menudo’ bandmate and now sworn enemy Ricky Martin, Hispanic Attack is written and directed by Richard Carroll (Everybody Loves Lucy, Side Show), with choreography by Amy Campbell (Violet, Spring Awakening).

The real Ryan Gonzalez has appeared in musicals around Australia including national tours of Legally Blonde, King Kong, Strictly Ballroom, Violet and the upcoming Kinky Boots. Hispanic Attack marks the debut of the outrageous comedy character that shares his name, and is an outrageous night out, bursting with laughs, lust, and Latin music.
