Here and Now – The Songs of Noël Coward

Robert Green_Here and NowRobert Green has been passionate about all things Coward for over 30 years, and revels in the opportunity to present his music to audiences. Making his Melbourne premiere, he presents Here and Now – The Songs of Noël Coward at The Butterfly Club for a limited season.

Sir Noël Coward was a playwright, composer, director, actor and singer. Known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time magazine called “a sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise”, his plays are regularly performed throughout the world and his songs continue to delight.

The true mark of a classic, many of his songs, such as Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Don’t Put Your Daughter On The Stage, Mrs Worthington, have not lost their relevance, appeal, or humour!

Whether hearing this fabulous material for the first time, or coming back to it like an old friend, Coward’s work always guarantees a wonderfully entertaining evening!

Robert Green has been singing in Cabaret for many years, quietly building a noisy following. Born in Sydney, he has performed in many of that city’s leading cabaret rooms, including El Rocco, Villa Caprese, Side On Café, Café DeLane, and Pastel’s Coffee Palace. His previous shows includes Serenely Independent, The Robert Green Cabaret Hour and Should I Speak Of Love or Should We Dance?

“Cabaret gives me enormous satisfaction, says Robert. “As a performer, the two most fabulous things you can ever hear are laughter and applause. Then when people tell you that a song you sang made them cry, when you can affect people in certain ways, you realize how special this is.”
