Guilty Pleasures

This show premiered 5 years ago starring Angelique Cassimatis, who has since performed as Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show, a Diva in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert and Annette in Saturday Night Fever.

With original music by Hugo Chiarella and Robert Tripolino (DreamSong), Guilty Pleasures sees Cassimatis portray the lives of ordinary women driven to acts of extraordinary violence. Theatre People described Cassimatis’ performance as “Amanda Plummer, Caroline O’Connor, Ute Lemper and Tracy Ullman all rolled up into one” – so you can imagine that with five more years of professional experience under her belt since last she performed this show, Cassimatis is back to take these six powerful women to the next level.

Joshua Robson’s (Rob Guest Endowment Winner, Les Miserables) book explores how love, passion, jealousy, loneliness and desperation can lead us to react far beyond the limits we ever thought we would. With a live 4-piece band led by Geoffrey Castles (Les Miserables, Aladdin), choreography by Amy Campbell (In the Heights, Oklahoma) and Lighting Design by Peter Amesbury, Guilty Pleasures is as dark as it is witty and energetic.

“…the creative maturity of this trio is impressive, and pleasing to know that the development of new Australian work is in very good hands.” – Australian Arts Review
