Gilligan’s Island The Musical to set sail in 2018

Gilligan's Island The Musical Humdrum Comedy and Left Bauer Productions have announced that the stage musical adaptation of Sherwood Schwartz’s hit television show Gilligan’s Island will be coming to Australia in 2018. The musical is set to open in Melbourne in February for a strictly limited season.

A Co-Production between television production house Humdrum Comedy (We are Darren and Riley, Hitstroke FM) and theatre company Left Bauer Productions (Harvey Milk – the Opera, Master Class); the zany musical will play at Chapel Off Chapel from 15 February 2018.

Gilligan’s Island: The Musical features a book by original series creator Sherwood Schwartz and Lloyd J Schwartz, and original music penned by Hope Juber and Laurence Juber (guitarist for Paul McCartney and Wings).

“We are thrilled that Sherwood’s timeless TV castaways are now finding their way down-under,” said The Jubers. “Humdrum Comedy and Left Bauer Productions provide the ideal combination of talents to bring these classic characters to life on stage and reinvent the show for a new audience.”

Gilligan’s Island: The Musical will be directed Kai Mann-Robertson, with musical direction by Xavier McGettigan, Lighting Design by Rob Sowinski, Sound Design by Marcello Lo Ricco, Costume Design by Jodi Hope, and Production & Stage Management by Jayson Fry. Casting details are yet to be confirmed.
