Geelong Arts Centre announces inaugural Wonder Children’s Festival

Designed to captivate the hearts and minds of avid arts adventurers aged up to 12 years, the Wonder Children’s Festival will take place across Geelong Arts Centre’s spectacular redeveloped centre.

“At Geelong Arts Centre, we believe in nurturing the next generation of artists and arts enthusiasts,” said Joel McGuinness, Geelong Arts Centre CEO & Creative Director.

“We are so excited to launch Geelong Arts Centre’s inaugural Wonder Children’s Festival, as we continue to foster a lifelong love for creativity and empower children to embrace the arts in all its awe-inspiring forms.”

Consisting of an incredible line-up of free and ticketed events, including dazzling headline performances from Indigenous dance powerhouse, Bangarra, and First Nations dance workshops.

The Festival will also offer a concert extraordinnaire from pioneering local children’s entertainers, The Mik Maks, a Tweens disco night, and the opportunity to create music using real life plants with Playable Streets.

Plus, young people will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity with amazing interactive workshops and installations, where they can dance, sing, play music, and explore their own artistic expression.

“Geelong Arts Centre’s Wonder Children’s Festival is a true reflection of our role as a connector, bringing together artists, families, and communities in a celebration of the performing arts,” said Mr McGuinness.

“This festival is a testament to our commitment to inspire, connect, and create lasting memories for children of the region.”

Geelong Arts Centre’s Wonder Children’s Festival is more than just a spectator event; it’s an opportunity for young people to become active participants in the magic of creativity.

“Exposing children to the arts at an early age cultivates their imagination, nurtures their self-expression, and fosters a sense of curiosity that will accompany them throughout their lives,” said Penny McCabe, Geelong Arts Centre Head of Programming.

“Geelong Arts Centre’s Wonder Children’s Festival aims to ignite this spark of creativity and open doors to a world of limitless possibilities.”
