The Wanderers Theatre presents Frankenstein by Nick Dear, from an original work by Mary Shelley, at the Ballarat Mining Exchange, this October.
The play follows The Creature’s perspective, rather than Victor Frankenstein’s. From his birth, to his pursuit to assimilate into society, the created being learns both the beauty and the horror of the world he has been thrust into.
The show dissects what it means to live, to love, and to fear. What is more terrifying? The capabilities of the unknown, or the known destructiveness of Man’s desire for knowledge?

Returning for their third production, The Wanderers Theatre is excited to stage such a thrilling, thought-provoking, and suitably Gothic production of Frankenstein, that raises the central question: what does it mean to be human?
Nick Dear is a British playwright and screenwriter. His translations include Ostrovsky’s A Family Affair, de Molina’s The Last Days of Don Juan and Moliere’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. He has written opera libretti, The Palace in the Sky, Siren Song and A Family Affair and screenplays for Cinderella, The Turn of the Screw, The Gambler, Persuasion and The Ranter. His original plays include Zenobia, In the Ruins, Food of Love, The Art of Success, Pure Science and Temptation.
