Illuminate Adelaide has announced the first artist in the major event’s music program for 2025 – a one-night only performance by Icelandic experimental techno duo, Kiasmos on Friday 18 July at the Hindley Street Music Hall.
With legions of fans around the world, Kiasmos (good friends Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen) are gamechangers in the electronic music space; their unique blend of minimal techno and orchestral flourishes creating a sound that’s both emotionally evocative and wildly infectious.
With their self-described “emotional rave” performance, they will have audiences ‘crying tears of joy on the dancefloor’ (The Guardian).
Kiasmos arrives on Australia’s shores off the back of sell-out shows across Europe, with Illuminate Adelaide included in a highly anticipated national tour which will mark the duo’s first time back in Australia in eight years.

Forming in the late 2000s, Kiasmos quickly grew into a global live act. Their seminal self-titled debut album was released in 2014 to critical acclaim, followed by a series of EPs which continue to push the boundaries of conventional electronic music.
Returning from 2 – 20 July, Illuminate Adelaide will once again glow-up winter’s dark night skies with its widely accessible program of free and ticketed events and experiences in an epic fusion of light, art, music and tech. The full Illuminate Adelaide program will be announced on 29 April 2025.
