Brought to you by MM Creative Productions, Perth’s newest female-led production company founded by Amy Manford and Genevieve McCarthy, the concert will bring to life the sweeping scores from Disney films new and old, offering a multi-generational experience suitable for children, parents and grandparents alike.
Set to a backdrop of original Disney footage, the two-act concert will feature more recent hits from Moana and Frozen, while simultaneously transporting audiences back in time with nostalgic tunes from classics such as Cinderella, Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast and The Little Mermaid.
Disney lovers will enjoy this trip down memory lane as beloved songs are brought to life through the talents of some of Australia’s top theatre stars, and sweeping orchestral scores are performed on stage live by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, led by the incredible Jessica Gethin.
The concert is also a rare and exciting opportunity for children to be introduced to a full symphony orchestra, playing the music they know and love in a child-friendly, accessible environment.
Amy Manford (The Phantom of the Opera) and Genevieve McCarthy (Les Misérables, The Sound of Music) will be joined on stage by conductor Jessica Gethin, recently listed as one of Australian Financial Review’s 100 Most Influential Women and hailed by audiences and critics globally for her stellar musicianship, vibrant energy and charismatic stage presence. Additional cast members will be announced in coming months.
“Genevieve and I feel honoured that Disney in Concert has trusted our small, female-led production company to bring this hugely sought- after concert to Australia,” says Manford.
“Bringing Disney in Concert: A Dream is a Wish to Australia for the very first time has been a labour of love and an absolute dream come true,” adds McCarthy, who also voices the character of Aubrey on family-favourite TV program Thomas & Friends.
Disney in Concert: A Dream is a Wish offers the perfect opportunity for a night out on the town or a ‘staycation’ at home, with Perth’s waterfront precinct Elizabeth Quay located just minutes’ walk from The Riverside Theatre.
Concertgoers can kick off the night with an early dinner at The Reveley or The Ritz Carlton, indulge in an icy treat from Gusto Gelato on the way to the theatre, and stay overnight at one of the many hotels surrounding the Quay.
