Death in Bowengabbie

Death In Bowengabbie Image 1From the winner of Black Swan Theatre’s Richard Burton Award for Best New Play comes Death in Bowengabbie – an extraordinary piece of writing by the talented Australian writer Caleb Lewis for a limited season at Melbourne’s La Mama Theatre.

Oscar Bowen has made a great life in the city after escaping the burden of his small-town family history. He has a fiance, a new job on the horizon and seems to have moved on from his tragic past.

But a series of mysterious deaths keep bringing him back to his home town of Bowengabbie for the understandably sad, yet strangely festive, funerals. Is it love that’s bringing him back? A tragic twist of fate? Or is something more sinister at play…?

A big, black, tender-hearted comedy, Death in Bowengabbie will be directed by Matt Edgerton and features an incredible performance by Bryce Youngman as Oscar – that will make you laugh, gasp and possibly get a hankering for popcorn or sausage rolls.
