A fearless and exciting comedic voice, Daniel Muggleton had a huge year in 2021 and is only going to build on that in 2022 with a growing army of fans of his deceptively sharp critiques of Australian culture and a brand new show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, White & Wrong (But Mostly White).
His first solo show since returning from two years in the UK, Oh More Mr. White Guy? was met with critical acclaim in the form of a 5 star review in The Advertiser. Daniel’s material is more unique than his appearance with The Age giving him 4 stars and writing “…topical gear that includes the best Indigenous genocide analogy of the festival. To be fair it’s probably the only one.”
Don’t be fooled, he isn’t just another white guy. That’s not to say his comedy is impersonal, with this year’s show breaking ground on an even more taboo topic: the lack of discussion, and specifically male discussion, around difficulty conceiving.
It turns out a Catholic upbringing and an all-boys-school PE class aren’t quite the whole story when it comes to making babies. A natural on stage, with a singular ability to make audiences feel safe even when discussing the most uncomfortable topics, Daniel is the type of stand-up comedian you just need to see live.
He’s poised to be an overnight success with a decade of gigs ranging from Manchester Arena to loft apartments in Brooklyn and headlining an Italian-speaking comedy night in Milan on his CV.
The mainstream media is catching up too with his debut special Let’s Never Hang Out aired multiple times on ABC Comedy in Australia, and now streaming on Prime Video. He also has two comedy albums Let Me Finish & Unprecedented streaming on Apple Music, Spotify & SiriusXM distributed by Grammy Award-Winning production company Comedy Dynamics.
Daniel’s 2019 show Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy (But I Reckon it’s easier for Straight, White Men?) was selected as one of the top ‘Four Great Free Fringe Shows’ by The Scotsman. The Sydney Comedy Festival selected him to perform at the 2021 ‘End of Fest’ Gala at the Enmore Theatre, The Breakout Showcase in 2017 & he was twice selected as a FRESH Artist in 2014 & 2015.
He’s also been handpicked to support Jim Jefferies, Steve Hofstetter, Neel Kolhatkar & Tom Stade on tour. Daniel has a fast-growing social media presence, with clips of his stand-up gaining millions of views on Facebook, Instagram & TikTok.
Daniel is the Australian half of ‘Ask Us Everything’ with US comedian Steve Hofstetter, a weekly webcast on Zoom, and the resident host at Sydney’s #1 Comedy Club, The Running Joke. He’s also a regular at Nowhere Comedy Club, the world’s first digital comedy club, where he’s opened for Bill Burr, Mike Birbiglia, Sam Morril & Todd Barry.
