Presenting a showcase selection of songs by five-time Tony award winning composer Cy Coleman, Flourish Productions offer the third show in their ‘Songs Of’ series, Cy by Cy by Cy: The Songs of Cy Coleman at Melbourne’s Bennetts Lane Jazz Club on 22 & 23 November 2015.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Cy Coleman was one of Broadway’s most prolific composers. He is best known for his work on shows including Sweet Charity, City of Angels, On the Twentieth Century, Barnum and The Life. Additionally he has also penned many hit songs for artists including Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, such as The Best is Yet to Come.
Coleman’s career was highly decorated, earning him 3 Grammy awards (13 nominations), 5 Tony awards (11 nominations) and 3 Emmy awards (5 nominations), and esteemed New York Post critic Clive Barnes labelling him a “permanent gem in Broadway’s Musical Crown”.
Produced by Catherine Langley, with direction by Scott Hendry and musical direction by Lucy O’Brien, The Songs of Cy Coleman will feature the talents of Henry Brett, Meg Hoult (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Eurobeat), Hollie James, Luigi Lucente (Wicked, Jersey Boys), Nicole Melloy (Legally Blonde, Rocky Horror Show), and Stephen Wheat (Georgy Girl, Legally Blonde).
