Courtney Act leads Cast for We Will Rock You arena tour

Courtney Act - photo by Joseph SinclairThe high-octane rock musical We Will Rock You is set to tour Australia in an all-new arena production that will raise the roof of Entertainment Centres across the country in 2023.

Featuring Queen’s greatest hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, I Want to Break Free, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Somebody To Love, Under Pressure, A Kind of Magic and more, this record breaking arena show is a must-see for rock fans of all ages.

Starring Australia’s favourite diva Courtney Act as Killer Queen (all cities except Sydney), this eye-popping spectacular is a unique collaboration between the legends of rock, Queen, and one of the U.K.’s most phenomenally successful writers, Ben Elton.

Starring in the role of Galileo will be Ross Chisari, who audiences will remember from the national tours of Shrek, The Rocky Horror Show and Aladdin. Direct from the US National tour of Kinky Boots and the Australian productions of Hairspray and Rolling Thunder Vietnam, Brisbane’s Kirby Lunn will take on the role of Scaramouche.

Australian musical theatre and cabaret star John O’Hara (Wicked, School of Rock, Jesus Christ Superstar) will tackle the role of villainous Khashoggi. After starring in We Will Rock You on London’s West End, Peter Murphy returns to the Australian stage in the role of Brit.

After star turns in Rent, Little Shop of Horrors and Jesus Christ Superstar, the Gold Coast’s Cat Deller will play the role of Oz. Australian comedy icon Peter Rowsthorn, known best for his role as Brett in Kath & Kim, will have audiences in stitches with his portrayal of Buddy.

Joining them on stage will be a powerhouse ensemble, who will round out the cast and also cover principle roles. Montana Lara will cover Killer Queen, Garret Lyon will cover Galileo & Brit, Cristian Robba-Colley will cover Khashoggi & Buddy and Chelsea Sales will cover Scaramouche & Oz.

Supporting the principal cast will be an ensemble of over 500 performers, accompanied by Mass Captains Sam Caruana, Grace Lockett, Sarah O’Neill, Ruby Thompson and Luke Woodrow with Mass Captain Subs Mina Aanat, Kate Baxter, Venezia Gugliucciello, Daniel Terribile and Kelsey Todd, making this the largest production of We Will Rock You ever staged.

Presented by Arenavent Theatrical with AVT LIVE Entertainment Group, this brand new arena production will be directed by Tim O’Connor, with Nigel Turner-Carroll as Principal Director and Maureen Bowra as Mass Director, Music Direction by Dennett Hudson, Lighting Design by Trudy Dalgleish and Sound Design by John Taylor.

Jennifer Ashley will take on the role of Assistant Director and Bella Gordon will be Assistant Chorographer, working with the thousands of young performers across the country who make up the mass ensemble.

We Will Rock You takes to the stage this January in Brisbane, before heading to Entertainment Centres throughout the country in 2023. Presented by arrangement with David Spicer Productions. www.davidspicer.com.au
