Coutis holds nothing back as he takes the audience on his cruise ship journey, a journey full of car chases, poker games, invoking an underworld God and a sneaky stand up comedy set. Each sketch is perfectly crafted and timed, allowing each moment to land while maintaining the overall story.
With such a tech heavy show, reliant on each effect landing, it is easy to go off the rails, but not with Coutis at the helm. The show keeps pace with his bounce less energy and each gag, character and transition is flawless. The audience is but putty in the hands of this consummate performer.
Half Steam Ahead! is an absolute must see during this years festival – utterly deserving of an extended run, with no doubt an exemplary spotlight shone upon Coutis come the awards.
