CLUEDO

The Cast of CLUEDO photo by Jeff Busby 3Melbourne audiences have officially been invited into Boddy Manor – and they’d be mad to decline. CLUEDO, now playing at the Comedy Theatre, is a gloriously slick, laugh-out-loud whodunnit that proves this beloved classic has lost none of its bite, brilliance, or ridiculous charm.

Based on Jonathan Lynn’s screenplay, written for the stage by Sandy Rustin and directed with whip-smart precision by Luke Joslin, this production finds order within the chaos. It barrels along at a sprightly pace, juggling quick-witted comedy, clever staging, and genuine mystery with the confidence of a seasoned sleuth who already knows whodunnit… but won’t tell!

The ensemble cast is uniformly terrific, each performer leaning joyfully into their iconic role while finding fresh comic life within it. Grant Piro’s Wadsworth is the engine room of the production – gloriously uptight, exquisitely timed, and a marvel of physical comedy.

CLUEDO David James and Genevieve Lemon photo by Jeff BusbyGenevieve Lemon devours the stage as the imperious and unhinged Mrs Peacock, while Rachael Beck’s dry, deliciously deadpan Mrs White lands some of the night’s biggest laughs. Adam Murphy brings blustering bravado to Colonel Mustard, Olivia Deeble is all fizz and danger as Miss Scarlet, and David James’ Professor Plum is delightfully self-important.

Laurence Boxhall’s Reverend Green, Lib Campbell’s flirtatious Yvette, Octavia Barron Martin’s Cook, Nat Jobe’s scene-stealing Bobby, and Joshua Monaghan’s Mr Boddy complete a cast firing on all cylinders.

The Cast of CLUEDO photo by Jeff Busby 2Visually, the show is a feast. James Browne’s set and costumes evoke a heightened, storybook elegance that feels ripped straight from the board game – secret passages, banging doors, and all. Jasmine Rizk’s lighting and Sean Peter’s playful score keep the tension humming and the comedy snapping right on cue.

Whether you grew up arguing over who did it with what weapon, adore the cult-classic 1985 film, or simply want a night of entertainingly crafted theatre that doesn’t take itself too seriously, CLUEDO delivers. It’s fast, farcical, and fiendishly fun – a killer night out that will have you laughing, guessing, and applauding right up to the final twist.
