Chart-topping tenor Freddie De Tommaso to make his Australian debut

Opera Australia Freddie De TommasoOne of the world’s most exciting tenors, British-Italian Freddie De Tommaso will make his Australian debut, presenting two recitals with Opera Australia, in Sydney and Melbourne this August.

Singing a range of classical songs and operatic arias by some of the world’s most renowned composers such as Puccini and Verdi, De Tommaso’s concerts will showcase his phenomenal voice and talent in a display by one of the greatest singers working in the Italian tradition.

De Tommaso was declared a star in 2011 after replacing an unwell tenor as Cavaradossi in the Royal Opera’s production of Tosca mid-performance, becoming the youngest tenor to perform the role on the iconic Royal Opera House stage in Covent Garden at the age of 28.

He has since performed in some of Europe’s most prestigious opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala, Weiner Staatsoper, and Bayerische Staatsoper, in the leading tenor roles in Adriana Lecouvreur, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, and La Traviata among others, as well as in concert.

An exclusive artist with Decca Classic, De Tommaso has recorded several albums with his first two albums, Passione and Il Tenore, topping the UK’s classical charts and Passione outselling Andrea Bocelli and Max Richter in its first week.

De Tommaso will perform in the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre accompanied by a pianist.
