Celebrating Shakespeare’s 450th Birthday

Bell 450th 1As the world celebrated William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday on Wednesday 23 April, Bell Shakespeare – Australia’s national theatre company specialising in the works of William Shakespeare, kicked off the celebrations with a new Google Australia partnership and a week of live and interactive Shakespearean activity.

On Monday 28 April, there’s an In Conversation with Bell Shakespeare’s Co-Artistic Directors, John Bell and Peter Evans. Tuesday 29 April the festivities continue with a Hamlet Acting Workshop, a video tutorial, exploring Bell Shakespeare’s approach to Shakespearean text, using one of his most popular plays.

On Wednesday 30 April, join International model, actress and founder of Impossible.com, Lily Cole as she speaks with John Bell, one of the nation’s most illustrious theatre personalities, about all things Shakespeare, the Globe and the world of theatre.

Next up on Thursday 1 May, a special offering for schools with a Hangout in History; a 30min interactive history lesson encountering characters of the Elizabethan era, and the life and times of the great characters.

And to finish on Friday 2 May, Take the stage – your chance to perform in a scene from Romeo And Juliet. Be a part of the performance of the famous balcony scene as the general public is invited to perform the famous scene, line by line.
