Blak – Bangarra Dance Theatre

BangarraBangarra Dance Theatre breaks the silence with an exciting, physically dynamic production Blak; exploding with stories about a contemporary clan and the collision of two worlds.

Artistic Director Stephen Page and dancer/choreographer Daniel Riley McKinley peel back the layers of men’s business and women’s business, crossing the worlds of old and modern, exposing our universal yearning for spiritual connection.

Acclaimed for its celebration of the world’s oldest living culture, Bangarra invites you to share this contemporary dance theatre experience.

For the first time, the soundscape of award-winning composer David Page will be fused with the electronic sounds of Paul Mac, both legends in creating cutting edge Australian music. Jacob Nash’s sensational set designs will again bring depth and mood to Bangarra’s evocative theatrical journey.

Blak is physical and edgy, drawn from the artists’ urban perspective, telling the stories of Indigenous Australia in a powerful and moving work of dance theatre.

Blak opens at Arts Centre Melbourne on Friday 3 May and plays until Saturday 11 May 2013. For more information, visit: www.bangarra.com.au for details.
